The Royal Hospital for Children and Young People was recently showcased in the hit CBBC children’s television series, “Operation Ouch!”. This award-winning series, known for its engaging and educational content, aims to demystify injuries, illnesses, and hospital life for young viewers. By presenting medical staff as real-life superheroes, it helps children feel more comfortable and confident about healthcare experiences.

The episodes filmed at the RHCYP capture the journeys of several children who visited our A&E department due to various injuries and medical issues, highlighting the incredible dedication and skill of our paediatric teams. From treating broken bones and performing surgeries to managing unexpected emergencies, the series provides a unique behind-the-scenes look at the daily life inside our hospital.

It was a fantastic opportunity to showcase the extraordinary work our staff does every day, and we are delighted to see our hospital featured alongside some truly memorable moments and funny characters. The episodes are now available to watch on the BBC iPlayer here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b03cdr8s/operation-ouch?seriesId=m001nhwl

We are proud to be part of a series that not only educates and entertains but also celebrates the resilience of children and the compassion and expertise of our healthcare professionals.
