NHS Lothian’s Tissue Viability Team have been announced as the winner of Wound Care Nurse of the Year Award at the prestigious British Journal of Nursing Awards in London.
The Tissue Viability Specialist Nurses assess, diagnose, and treat patients with a variety of wounds. The team have been on a significant journey of change and transformation over the last 3 years and have risen to the challenge at each hurdle. This includes the introduction of dynamic Tissue Viability nurse roles to ensure highly skilled specialist staff can deliver care across all clinical settings.
Amongst many achievements, the team were the first in Scotland to become early adopters of innovative technologies such as wound assessment applications to improve the quality of wound assessments and subsequently high-quality treatment planning via community nurses’ smartphones.
The ceremony was dedicated to recognising and applauding the hard work and unwavering commitment of NHS staff across the UK and acknowledging the significant impact they have made on the lives of patients.
