Three of Lothian’s mass vaccination centre will welcome their final patients over the coming days as the sites at Gorebridge Leisure Centre, Members Pavilion at Royal Highland Centre, Ingliston and Edinburgh International Conference Centre (EICC) prepare for closure.
The EICC vaccination centre will close today (Thursday 17 March), with Members pavilion closing on Thursday 24 March and Gorebridge Leisure Centre closing on Sunday 3 April.
Eleanor Hunter, Clinical Nurse Manager for NHS Lothian’s Covid-19 Vaccination Programme, said: “The mass vaccination centres have played a key role in vaccinating the Lothian population and we are really thankful to our team who made it work so well.
“I would also say thank you to our partners at all three mass vaccinations centres for their cooperation throughout this phase of the programme.”
The mass vaccination centre programme has seen thousands of patients come through its doors since it began in February 2021.
NHS Lothian is now in the process of moving to a more local, community-based delivery model for COVID-19 vaccinations.
The board will continue to be a number of drop-in vaccination centres operating across Lothian. Clinic locations can be found onĀ NHS Lothian’s website.
The Gorebridge and Members Pavilion vaccination centres will still welcome both appointments and drop-ins until closure.
Pat Wynne, Interim Executive Nurse Director, NHS Lothian, said: “Vaccination remains critically important in the continued fight against COVID-19, with the primary aim of the programme being prevention of severe disease, hospitalisation and mortality arising from COVID-19.
“Anyone wishing to be vaccinated can do so visiting one any of our clinics across the region, which are continuing to operate seven days a week. I encourage anyone who is still to have any dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to get vaccinated as soon as they are eligible.”
