Tracy Anne Miller will become the new Employee Director on the NHS Lothian Board on 1 January 2022. Tracy Anne, who is a Registered Mental Health Nurse, is beginning a new chapter in her career in NHS Lothian that spans over 38 years.
As Employee Director, Tracy Anne will work with the rest of the NHS Lothian Board members and will be in post for four years, until 31 December 2025. She has vast experience working with employee rights and safety and has also been a UNISON Shop Steward for 29 years.
Tracy Anne has been the UNISON Branch Secretary for almost three years, and she is looking forward to bringing her wealth of expertise to her new role. She worked closely with Tom Waterson, the former Employee Director who passed away in September.
She said: “I did not envisage becoming Employee Director and have been appointed to the role under the saddest and most tragic circumstance. Tom was a close personal friend of mine.
“However, I am now looking forward to opening another chapter in my NHS Career and building strong working relationships at Board level.
“I am absolutely passionate about excellent staff governance standards and have always said that our staff are the most valuable asset NHS Lothian has.
“I am therefore excited at having a part to play in shaping the future within NHS Lothian. I am also very proud of the fact that I am the first female Employee Director in Lothian.”
Tracy Anne started in the former Rosslynlee Hospital, moved to the Royal Edinburgh Hospital in 1987 and then to Midlothian as a CPN in 2000. In Midlothian, she became the first Partnership Lead, when partnership working was first implemented.
For the last eight years, Tracy Anne has been the Partnership Lead at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and has established strong working relationships with the site management team.
