NHS Lothian has vaccinated some of Edinburgh’s biggest football stars as part of its campaign to deliver as many lifesaving COVID-19 vaccinations as possible across Lothian.

Three Hibernian FC players, Lewis Stevenson, Darren McGregor, and Jamie Murphy came forward to receive their vaccination at the mobile facility on Saturday 28 August at the club’s Easter Road Stadium. Coach and former Hibs captain David Gray also took the opportunity to be vaccinated along with the players.

NHS Lothian’s mobile vaccination clinics have been designed to bring the COVID-19 vaccination programme into the community and offer as many people as possible easy access to the vaccine.

These clinics are open to everyone over the age of 16 to attend, as long as there has been an eight-week gap between their vaccines. The mobile clinics offer all three vaccines, Pfizer, AstraZeneca and Moderna.

NHS Lothian’s mobile vaccination clinics have been running over the summer months in partnership with the Scottish Ambulance Service and Lothian Buses, who have both at different points provided the health board with vehicles.

Pat Wynne, Director of Community Nursing, NHS Lothian, said: “It is fantastic to see players, fans and members of the community engage with our mobile vaccination clinics and I would like to thank the team at Hibs for their continued support for our programme.

“We are placing these clinics right in the heart of our communities and we are looking to vaccinate as many people as possible. If you are nearby one of our facilities, and are due to be vaccinated, please consider taking advantage of our clinics and visit us.

“We are continuing to make it as easy as possible to access a COVID-19 vaccination and are offering vaccines to all over-16s from any part of Scotland. As a team we have seen how popular our pop-up vaccination clinics can be, as they offer real flexibility.

“Over the last couple of two months it has been great to see so many people have come forward to take advantage of these clinics. I would ask everyone who is due to be vaccinated to come forward and help us stop the spread of COVID-19 in our communities.”
